There are five things you need to know about The Royal George. We serve the finest food. We stock superb ales. We have five beautiful B&B rooms, including our prestigious Heritage Suite. The inn has a claim to being the oldest in England. And our name has a fascinating provenance…
Please check out Facebook page for regular menu updates
Not forgetting lagers, ciders, wines, spirits and a host of other refreshing liquid delights. As a Free House, we love to select the very best ales from renowned breweries locally and farther afield. We stock firm favourites and an ever-changing range of eclectic craft beers. And we’re certain you’ll find our wines absolutely delicious. Ask us what’s new and enjoy something different.
We’re foodies too. That’s why all our dishes are lovingly prepared and cooked right here, in our own kitchens. Our menu changes regularly as we like to make the very best of our local suppliers and seasonal produce. To learn more, go to our Facebook page, check the specials boards in our bar and restaurant areas, or call us on 01536 660505.
Stay overnight. Or for the weekend. Or much longer if you wish. We now have five stylishly furnished, comfortable bedrooms, each with private en-suite facilities and quality beds. Our newly-renovated Heritage Suite is now open. Without doubt, it is the most fascinating bedroom in the inn – it’s the one with the famous cruck truss beams. Our B&B tariff includes a full English breakfast to set you up for the day. With superb rolling countryside right on our doorstep, there’s so much to do. Enjoy country walks, cycling and horse riding, and take in the many interesting amenities, places to visit and attractions, all just a stone’s throw away.
Quite apart from the finest food, outstanding real ales and the kind of atmosphere you will only find in a traditional English coaching inn, The Royal George also offers a truly fascinating history.
