The inn has a claim to being the oldest in England, dating back to the 13th Century. And our name has a fascinating provenance too…

Stay overnight. Or for the weekend. Or much longer if you wish. We have five stylishly furnished, comfortable bedrooms, each with private en-suite facilities and quality beds. Our Heritage Suite is without doubt the most fascinating bedroom in the inn – it’s the one with the famous cruck truss beams. Our B&B tariff includes a full English breakfast to set you up for the day. With superb rolling countryside right on our doorstep, there’s so much to do. Enjoy country walks, cycling and horse riding, and take in the many interesting amenities, places to visit and attractions, all just a stone’s throw away.
Quite apart from the finest food, outstanding real ales and the kind of atmosphere you will only find in a traditional English coaching inn, The Royal George also offers a truly fascinating history.
